My Journey From Conventional To Natural Medicine

“When I was a child, I spoke as a child, I understood as a child, I thought as a child: but when I became a man, I put away childish things.” 1st Corinthians 13:11

I remember thinking as a child growing up that doctors had the answer to whatever health problem I might encounter. They are the people you go to see if you have a problem. After all, that’s what the conventional thinking in American society was and that’s what I had been taught. I had no reason to believe otherwise. My mother and father followed that same line of thinking and no one else was there to suggest anything different.

Fast forward a number of years until I was about the age of 34. By that time in my life, I had become much more spiritual, having established a relationship with God through Jesus Christ. And I remember approaching God in prayer and requesting that he instill me with wisdom as to the very best things that I could eat and do in my life for optimal health. Thus began my journey into natural medicine.

One simple conclusion that I came to and try to live by is that, the closer it is to the way God made it, the better it is for you. God designed the human body, so only he knows perfectly what the human body requires. And because God is perfect, only he could design various sources of food on the earth with the ideal ratios of vitamins, nutrients and enzymes to meet the needs of the human body. The great thing about that is when the medical establishment comes out one year and says that eggs are bad for you and then changes their mind the next year, I no longer have to wonder what the truth is. I simply live by that principle of the closer it is to the way God made it, unprocessed, etc.
